OpenFray

Terms of Service

Last updated: 14 August 2026

These terms govern your use of OpenFray, a free combat console for tabletop games at openfray.app (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please don’t use it.

1. The Service

OpenFray is a free tool for running tabletop-game encounters — tracking initiative, resources, conditions, dice and reference material. It is offered as a convenience and may be changed, limited, or discontinued at any time. OpenFray is a scratchpad, not an authoritative system of record; you are responsible for keeping your own copies of anything important.

2. Accounts and sign-in

You can use OpenFray anonymously, or sign in with a Google or Discord account to save your work. You are responsible for activity under your account and for maintaining access to the identity provider you sign in with. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum digital-consent age in your country, where higher) to create an account.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

4. Your content

You keep ownership of the content you create — custom creatures, spells, campaigns, characters, and notes (“Your Content”). You grant us only the limited license needed to store, process, and display Your Content back to you in order to operate the Service. You are responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the right to use it. You can delete Your Content, or your whole account, at any time from within the app.

5. Intellectual property and game content

The OpenFray software is open source under the AGPL-3.0 license; its source is at github.com/OpenFrayApp. These Terms govern your use of the hosted Service and are separate from that code license.

Game reference content is used under CC-BY-4.0, with attribution to Wizards of the Coast as required. OpenFray is compatible with 5e (2014) and 5.5e (2024) but is not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored, or specifically approved by Wizards of the Coast LLC.

6. Third-party services

Sign-in and hosting rely on third parties (including Google, Discord, Supabase and Cloudflare). Your use of those features is also subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. See our Privacy Policy for how data is handled.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. We do not guarantee that the Service, its dice, or its reference data are error-free, and we are not responsible for any loss of data.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OpenFray and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or game progress, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Because the Service is provided free of charge, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for it — which is nothing.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or to protect the Service or its users. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (e.g. ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability) will survive.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Service evolves. The “Last updated” date above reflects the current version; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Romania, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts of Ilfov County, Romania will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
